We have 2 of the 3 races for the Martin County Summer Series completed. The Downtown Dash 5K was a great success. We had 235 runners which set a record for the Dash. It looked like the race was doing to be delayed with the rain and lightning in the area. However, that didn’t hold the runners from showing up. We had a great evening of racing. The final series race, Beach to Beach 5K, will be held on August 15. After the first two races of the series setting new attendance records, the Beach to Beach 5K should follow in that trend. We are estimating over 300 runners for the August run. The final race will be a great event to close the summer series.
With the increase in the number of runners for the races, we will be looking for volunteers. So if you are injured or don’t plan to run, you can email me at auburn1984@bellsouth.net to volunteer.
Many of you will be receiving or will have received The South Florida Running Forum. August was our clubs debut in the publication. Each month our club will have a couple of pages to fill with running stuff. If you have any photos from races just completed or an article you would like to publish just let us know so we can get it into the publication.
The course for the ˝ marathon will be finalized by the end of August. It will not change much from the original layout. For the ˝ marathon, we will need volunteers to help on the course, registration and at the finish line. The club will also be looking for race sponsors. Again, if you are interested, please contact a Board Member.
